Dafydd Davies - International Policy - Stanford Who's Who Certified

Dafydd joined the Department of Labour in September 2005 and has held a number of senior management positions in policy and research. He recently joined the Legal and International Group as Director of the International Division.

He has experience on working on a range of International areas which include the ILO, OECD, and European Union; most recently on APEC business and also leading labour co-operative activities in China, Japan, Hong Kong and the Philippines under New Zealand Free Trade Agreements.

Prior to moving to New Zealand in 2004, Dafydd was Head of Strategy, Research and Economic Performance at the East Midlands Development Agency in Nottingham, UK; responsible for the development of the regional economic strategy, economic research, and performance & evaluation.

He has worked in a wide range of socio-economic policy areas which include international trade, business growth, employment and skills, economic inclusion, sector innovation, knowledge economy and urban & rural development policy although much of his working life has been spent in the private sector.

Dafydd has a wealth of managerial experience gained from an eclectic career gained in the oil and gas industry, retail management, academia, water infrastructure and economic development and has worked on a range of projects for the UK government & European Union.

He has a BSc (Hons) in Land Economy and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from University of Plymouth and was formerly a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He is also published in a range of publications.

Dafydd possesses strong strategic leadership skills and extensive experience in strategy and knowledge department, economic research and analysis programmes, evaluation frameworks, forecasting capability development, knowledge and intelligence frameworks. Some of his specialties are: change management and team building, central and regional government strategy, policy and research, strategic evaluation and economic performance, economic development, rural and urban employment and skills
